My classes are trying their hand at copepod culture this semester, in addition to rotifers. It was suggested I use an air pump and airstone with light bubbles at 2-3 bubbles per second. I set it up with one of those wooden air diffusers and if adjusted it makes normal size bubbles, but a bit more and it makes tons of micro bubbles. Should I switch to regular air stone?

I would. I've seen that same 2-3 bubbles per second metric listed in a number of places most notably Reef Nutrition's website. Plus they run about 49 cents. :)

I think just a tube with no stone works pretty decent. Just gotta weight it to hold it at the bottom

1+ what Coral Reefer said.....bubbles mostly for water column circulation more than gas exchange
