Plus I think Eric oversold it anyways so whoever volunteered would likely be disappointed
On more positive notes, the webmaster has a lot of leeway and authority to make our site better for the members, in both big and small ways. And we rely on them to advise us of what’s possible/feasible or not as we come up with ideas. Since the site is the main way the club interacts, they can make a huge positive difference. It’s one of if not the most influential position on the Board.
We have a contractor Marc who isn’t part of the club but who we pay to implement things to help the webmaster. He is an expert in Xenforo. So you don’t have to know everything.

I have dabbled with coding in the most basic of ways, and have heard of the more common coding languages, but I have never heard of xenforo.
I have a friend who is into NFTs, and though he doesnt know how to code, he knows how to communicate with chatGPT in a way to get it to code for him. It almost perfectly executes what he wants the code to do, and then he just fine tunes it a bit. I could probably learn to do that as well! I’ll just have to start practicing

Lol, to bad food couldn't be converted into coding knowledge. Before I moved to California aka the tech capital, back in Louisiana i always was the go to person to fix pc issues. I didn't know how much of a idiot in tech i was till I came here and found true gurus.
I have a feeling someone reading this with the skills is on the fence- keep the pressure on till they decide to step up if not for the good of the club there is that huge salary package and possibly a parking spot.

Jvu did mention there was a expert to help guide so if you know the basics and can speak and understand the language I would hope you could master the rest given time.

I think it’s a bit too advanced for me, though I could probably dable around with it and do something. I just feel like someone more experienced with code could actually make noticeable changes for the better.

It does look complicated. Im willing to give this a try if no one comes forward to do it.
I do backend/server/storage/db/apache/tomcat/nginx/js/python/etc... stuff, built our forums at https://forum.odrive.com - which is discourse. A quick peek at the guide, doesn't look too tough, everything I work with is linux based. Is there something specific you are looking to get done, or just maintenance?
Just really need maintenance.

Maybe we can get you some access to the backend of the forum to get your eyes on it. Then make a decision whether you want to take it on. I have not been able to do that yet myself because of work lately. I'd love to help take this on, but I also don't want to get inundated more than I already am. If you decide to take this on, I'd be happy to assist where I can so that it's not all on your shoulders.

Need to look at the latest build versions. One thing to consider is to make sure it's able to play nicely with BarCode.
