Couple other thoughts...
For my setup, I place the sensor on the return side, and the fill tube on the filter side.
Things to consider...
1) If your filter sock is dirty, it may reduce flow to the return, affecting the level...
2) Stating the obvious but be sure to either refill the water to the same level in the sump before restarting pump or adjust the optical sensor to the water line in the return after you restart
These simple tricks helped reduce number of false alarms...also, the autoaqua will alarm if the subsequent fill time exceeds the first fill upon power on by 3 minutes or so
