So Im starting a new tank after moving from Santa Cruz to SF. I broke down both my bedroom tank and living room tank. Was pretty sad but am happy to be starting again. I didn't think out my rockscape as much as I wanted and just threw something together.
Including a pic for now. Dont mind the mess as I'm still working on setting it up and will do cable management and everything before I put either panels or doors on the stand I built.
Also am in a smaller place for now till we can find something bigger so I'll probably only be setting the one tank up. Probably better for me in the long run as it's less work.

On a pretty tight budget right now. Reused all my sand and some rocks I had sitting outside for a while. Have my animals in a bucket but feeling like I need to get them into the tank soon. im sure they are fine in there but they are taking up most of a room by being in the center of it. Will take better pics later as I had just stirred up some sand. Will try to do updates on days I do water changes and testing. Planning once I have animals in to do it once a week. Cant wait to get back to being able to have coral again.

Nice stand, I have had to build a few recently for tanks. How many gallons is the tank? What made you decide to go with a deep sand bed in this tank?

Its a cadlight 49g bowfront with the eshops nano sump (12g) the whole system has about 43G of actual water in it like 20lbs of rock and 50lbs of sand. I went with a deep sandbed for my shrimp and I just kinda like it.

So I finally seem to have gotten the aptasia problem I was having taken care of. Used mainly pistol shrimp and the wand I borrowed from @MichaelB. The shrimp took care of the problem in a week and then proceeded to eat my hammers. Being so busy with work by the time I got the one shrimp I ever noticed eating them (into the sump it went) He ate most of the larger heads. One has survived with the five new heads that have been growing. Hope they survive.

Well till my next post.

Haha I see I put the wrong type of shrimp. I meant to say peppermint shrimp. I had gotten 4 to clean the tank out.

I had no idea peppermints or any shrimp would eat corals.
Camel shrimp definitely eat corals.

There are a few types of shrimp commonly sold as peppermint shrimp. There is two type prefered types that are generally considered reef safe. The most recommended is Lysmata wurdemanni.

These can look incredible similar and fairly hard to tell a part with 100% certainty.
