Best magnetic stir plates?

Any advice or recommendations on magnetic stir plates and compatible containers? I’d like to have a stir magnet in a stir plate-compatible dosing containers so it’s easier to mix two-part.

How much volume of 2 part are we talking?

I was thinking about doing something similar with a 2 part at one time, and just treating it like a kalk reactor keeping the solution in a super saturated state then no need to actually measure anything out, just toss stuff in, let it whir up and periodic add freshwater and whir it back up again. Although I was using 5 gallon salt buckets to hold it, and couldn't imagine even the largest of those stir bars would really mix things up terribly well. But if you were using smaller containers (say 1 gallon pickle jar size) could probably work.

@CaseyP what containers do you plan to use with it?

I saw this one on Amazon and the bad reviews kind of scared me away. Also my understanding is not to expect the magnetic stir plate to work equally well with every size magnetic stir bar at every speed. Since this plate is also sold in a different kit with a single 30mm stir bar maybe it works best with that one? Or do the other bars just need to be smaller than 30mm to work well?

@sfsuphysics I need to mix about a gallon at a time and this plate is supposedly ok up to 0.8gal so maybe it will work. The plate itself would be just smaller than my container which is probably ok. I’m tired of adding 1/5 the anhydrous Ca, mixing, repeat so the Ca heat reaction doesn’t melt the bottom of my container. Would rather slowly add the whole thing while the stir bar spins.

@Chromis nothing too high volume. Only for test kits vials <20ml and mixing KNO3 and KH2PO4 powder 500ml at a time in a beaker. Significantly smaller than what you're planning but in the next week or two I can follow up with how it's working for me.

Man what is your container made of such that it will melt? I know it gets hot, but never got that hot for me.

That said, if you're worried about weight, and are handy, you could possibly built a stand that is flush with the top of your stirrer and make that stand hold the weight of the container.
