As of a hour ago this tank is no more. Nems we all taken by a fellow bar member. He's been in the hobby for a while soni expect they will do well in his care.
The issue i had here was to many types of nems in one tank 5 different types of nems.
It worked well for years and months until it didn't. Nems went from all being 6-8 inches to being only 2 inches each.
I strongly suspect the nems were waging chemical warfare with each other.
It got to the point I could only distinguish two types in apart in the tank. All of those that were similar coloration though individually unique nems seemed to have all morphed in to having the same appearance. Where i couldn't tell them apart. To my knowledge haven't actually lost any nems at all since having the tank. They just went from thriving to just surviving.
My larger maroons use to host them but since they got so small it became impossible for them too. Despite the maroons going out their way to feed each nem in the tank they stayed 2 inches.
the fish were moved into the 210gallon today. I wanted them to get really comfortable in the tank and claim territory before introducing the other fish and tangs that were in the observation tank following qt.
These maroons are my favorite and oldest fish with the exception of my six line wrasse current in my main tank. There are plenty of leather corals and a few hammers and torches in the 210gallon hopefully they find a house with the leather corals. Though these clowns are probably to smart to be fooled by a imitation nem.
I hope to prehaps snag a Colorado or Chicago sun burst nem for the 210gallon at somepoint in time.
I wouldn't add any other nems tk that tank. I've also been considering a mag nem though they aren't common and I've only ever seen one at a lfs myself.
This biocube32 including everything but the light is now available. I have a stock led hood i could ley go with it, in addition to the screen top and a polycarbonate lid. So 3 different lid options go with the tank.
