Interesting! I remember people being suspicious of it, in a similar vein of most bottled cures, when it first came out. Interesting seeing the algaecide claim, since it was touted as a bottled bacteria product. Only on page 3 so far, cant wait to finish the whole thread!

Ok, using chat gpt was the call, I dont know why I dont use it more, its an amazing tool.
Reading what each organism did really sold the product for me. Nitrifying bacteria, denitrifying bacteria, bacteria that sounded like it works with carbon dosing, enzyme creating bacteria, sounds like all good stuff.
A few of the strains seemed a but sketchy, especially the ones in the KZ product, wouldnt want to be putting my hand in the tank if I used that one lol

The vibrant reveal story is indeed interesting but it’s old news at this point that it’s a complete fraud. I doubt that is what @Turkeysammich was referring to.
It’s worth remembering not to lump all companies and all products from a company together in the subject of bacteria in a bottle.

Vibrant had just came out and was being pushed when I started my break, and I havent stayed up to date with everything going on in the hobby. Personally, I wouldnt trust the company that makes vibrant anymore. Not only did people lose corals, but their health as well as their families health were put at risk.
That being said, I absolutely love bottled bacterias, I’ve used dr tims one and only on just about every tank that I have started, and I believe this area has tremendous potential in this hobby. Though the KZ product definitely seems odd, I’d love seeing more data before drawing any conclusions

Can someone summarize? I'm guessing I could copy paste the list of bacteria and get something to describe, but I don't really understand what I'm seeing in those lists.
Staph aureus, Strep pneumoniae at pretty large percentages are pretty worrying. Bunch of soil bacteria also. My question would be where are the marine bacteria?

Chat gpt did a pretty good job, explained how some are found in soil, some are found in water, some break down waste, some make enzymes, one of the bottled bacterias actually had a fungus in it which was interesting

Staphylococcus is not surprising. I doubt there is much in terms of regulating the production of hobby grade products we use unfortunately. I don't see an additive company using a laminar flow hood to bottle each unit for sale anytime in the near future or anything remotely close to USP 797 standards.
It's highly likely some of us reading this thread have Staphylococcus on us now, so the cross contamination risk is high.
Streptococcus worries me tho...especially when adding it to a hospitable environment where it could be aerosolized (skimmer)
