I picked up a black widow from @ashburn2k

it walked for a few days and then settled in a place with moderate flow, but under a rock.

From what i can see, it seems to be getting very little light. Should i try and move it, or is it smart enough to know it needs light

It’ll move to the light if it needs it. You can also try to feed it some mysis or brine shrimp.

It’s dumb, you need to show it the lights. If I see nem under the rock I would rotate the rock having it facing the light and it will stay there happily.

unfortunately the rock it’s on is a base rock supporting the structure so i can’t rotate the rock...it won’t move or stretch itself to the light? lol

Some nems are smart but I’ve definitely had some not be so quick and sit under a ledge while it bleached out from lack of light. This only happens very rarely as most will try to find the light in time.
