Bubblegum Digi Green Tips

IMG_6892.jpeg

It is pinker in person. I use an orange filter so all warm colors turn to orange, but it’s very much pink, discernibly so from orange corals near it

It looks like the green extends down the actual stick so maybe not bubblegum actually.

Bubblegum is an actual lineage right? I think i have a bubblegum-adjacent one that looks the same according to google images but I don’t know it actually is
Let’s just be honest and admit that none of us really know much of anything lol. One person gets confused while passing out one frag and the thing takes a life of its own because “I got a frag from this person that got it from that person and they clearly have the “real” one”…

I just looked up what bubblegum digi is meant to look like again.

My mariculture one is fur sure not.

@Darkxerox your DBTC forest fire that you gave me appears to be misnamed or you gave me the wrong coral. It looks to be a bubblegum digi - the polyps are red-orange, base is grey except for the tips which are green and have less fuzz there

It has grown slower for me than I thought it would. Definitely slower than my mariculture one

I got both of mine from @under_water_ninja. To me the main difference is the polyp spacing and color. The FF has polyps packed in tighter whereas the bubblegum is more spaced out. The FF polyps are a brighter orange too. Here are a couple crappy pics where you can see both of them.

I'm not trying to get too into the lineage and whatnot. It just seems like many of us in the club have the same or a very similar coral and some of us are having consistent success bringing out the brightly colored tips (imho they are green not yellow, sorry @derek_SR ), and some of us are not.

I'm going to try bringing up my calcium and alk soon, but based on what I'm hearing that probably won't do it. I'll also try stepping up the water changes at some point. I kinda feel like that's what did it the last time, but that's a low-confidence guess. I'm sure my house sitters brought up the nutrients significantly, but either that wasn't it or it wasn't high enough. Will report back if anything works for me.

My skimmer is oversized. Could that be it? Just trying to find a common denominator here. If there is one to be found.

IMO, that looks like a forest fire.
