Im super impressed. Two pages of dialog and not a single ask yet. When i clicked i really expected to see 36 people in line for a frag.

rules are rules:

Please DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS: 1) your tank is over 18 months old; 2) Your tank's parameters and nutrients are STABLE; 3) You have demonstrated care for coral, especially SPSP; 4) You are known to me, or have CURRENT Tank Journal; 5: DO NOT sign up if you have killed a frag from me; 6) DO NOT sign up if you experemnet with chemical nutrient reduction methods; 7) Any resulting frags are to be distributed per my aforementioned rules, and never to be sold

I’ve already conquered the chambers of keep sps alive and get sps to grow, but haven’t completely solved chamber of getting crazy colors. So much sps kungfu to learn from masters.

Most of them will be from freeloaders and or those with inadequate skills
This is not what Bay Area reefers should represent. How do you determine if new members are freeloading? Our community should be focused on learning, sharing, and growing together, not on gatekeeping or passing judgment based on skill levels. Everyone starts somewhere, and that’s how we all improve.

I imagine your reef tank must be the best in the Bay Area, given how critical you always are. Some of you might want to consider making real friends outside of this forum.

I think @Kensington Reefer is referring to my strict rules and is showing support that at least a few have signed up while ignoring or not reading the rules.

There have been cases in the past and present where some members are net takers and don’t give back, mainly because the piece does not survive.

@Edgar Sandoval you know some species are incredibly sensitive and should only go to a very experienced reefer. That has never changed.

And I am not about gatekeeping or being exclusive- far from it. I want to ensure that anything I share has the best chance of survival. I at least owe that to the coral. Too many here see stars with some of these high ends and get over their skis quickly.

I gotta be blunt. I get it, it's your DBTC frag and your rules, but with rules this strict, you're probably better off finding a select few reef keeping buddies that meet your strict requirements to bank your corals and swap amongst yourselves.

I don't know you, I sometimes add some flavor to my tank to try a new method, and I've probably killed a frag or two because you know, life...sometimes it happens during transport, they don't make it through my strict QT process, some just don't transition well, or whatever other reason. So I don't qualify? I'm guessing that not many in BAR will meet your requirements. And to be honest, personally, I don't want the stress of killing one of your frags. Nor would I want the stress of finding your perfect match criteria once I did have a frag or frags to give out.

But I wish you luck. Hope you find your perfect matches to DBTC your coral.

Hey Randy - all good. Yeah we all make mistakes, my man - so do I repeatedly. My thing is banking and sharing, but, yes, I'm particular. I buy very unique and rare sps and spend hundreds per frag, so yeah, I'm being strict. That being said, I'm a generous person by nature...I just put two OG bounce babies up and really want these to be shared - but I want to avoid some person taking advantage of my generosity and using it as an opportunity to to make a few $.
