Cali Kid Corals

DBTC RRC Goldenrod Anacropora

I have one that I haven't been able to mount in my tank, due to maroons keep knocking it loose before the glue can fully cure. Your welcome to it if your intrested. Just toss me a future frag of it.@Mic

@MichaelB Do you still have the Frag? I would love to have one. My tank now stabilized after the stupid user mistake.

Mine has grown about a cm since I received it at the swap. Give it a couple more months and if someone else hasn’t volunteered some I can give you a piece.

For the meantime I can give you a piece of Green Goblin anacro. Maybe even start a dbtc for it

Growing super fast, not much encrusting though...

I do not think anacropora likes to encrust much. Most I’ve seen it do is skin over cuts and extend a couple millimeters onto the glue.
That's what I'm seeing with the red one I got from the frag swap too. What's the best way to mount them, on their side I guess? My tangs are always knocking them loose because they don't encrust!

I just glue them really well sticking out. There were some holes in my rock I could glue them really securely into.

I imagine gluing them flat would work too, but that might stall their growth a bit.

Anacros scare me because I just know I’m going to knock them off or snap them accidentally lol

Has yours grown significantly / turned gold yet? mine is sitting at a pretty meh lime / grey polyp, but has roughly doubled
Yes, mine is pretty yellow. Has more than doubled in size I think, that’s how I was able to share some DBTC frags at the swap. I’ll get a pic when I can

Do you have any ideas as to what could be the cause of the coloration? I have one in high light, one in low; nutrients have been higher and they have been lower; they've been in both ripping flow and slow flow. I can only guess it would be related to trace or perhaps "stability"?

Appreciate your insights

I honestly don’t know. I’m no SPS whisperer. I keep my water as stable as I can but haven’t been doing great with trace elements after the debacle with Isol:8 MT skyrocketing my iodine.

The frag kept falling off its plug so I have it sort of wedged on a frag rack since I knew I wanted to frag it for this swap and am not sure where I want it yet. Sometimes a snail or urchin bumps it off the rack and it falls on the sand and/or onto one of the big ROYGBIV mushrooms or goni’s underneath. I put it back up. It falls off again a week or a month later. So maybe adversity?

I glued mine on the back glass because I heard it doesn't encrust... falls off once a month. So i think we can rule out "pain"

I'm really curious to know however. Mine looks like a green goblin, with a haze of yellow on some surfaces. I thought the polyps were supposed to be vivid red, but mine has the "hint water" of coloration

@tribbitt do you have any bubblegum digi? If so, does it have the yellow tips?
I have former mariculture bubblegum digi that I grew from a little lump of encrusting. And no, no yellow tip, but I'm not sure if there ever was to begin with

On the other hand, I have a really cool RFA with nice yellows, beach bum with yellows, Midas zoas. Although idk if those are the same yellow
