dumb idiot plumbing question

Hi all,
I'm an idiot to plumbing, I got a quick question, I have this tank from previous owner, the water return pipe is using a bulkhead and some pvc pipe on the outside, but on the inside of the tank, the bulkhead is missing a L shape pipe I think to the tank, so now the water from the return bulkhead is hitting the tank water and quite noisy. Does anyone know what i can do ? I went to home depot and looks like the smallest pvc pipe is 1/2 inch. but it doesn't really fit

Is the bulkhead threaded or slip (smooth) inside the tank?
What size is the pvc going into the bulkhead?

The white PVC going into the bulkhead i just measured it's 1 inch, on the inside I plug a finger in and I don't feel any thread

Just slip a small section of pvc into the bulkhead with a 90. Don't glue anything. Just slip it in.

Small section of 1/2” pvc and a 90 degree elbow will do ya

You might want to drill a small hole in pvc pipe u are gonna add. This will prevent siphoning if return pump stops.

Consider getting a thread/slip elbow and add to the threaded end a lock-line adapter so you can direct flow; even better, a Y-split lock-line.

Cut off about 3" from the 24" pipe and slip the 90 onto it
