So I've had Jager heaters in the past when they were Ebo Jager. I bought a 50w one for my 5 gallon QT tank. I noticed it was hard to dial in when setting it up and now it seems to range between 79-81 degrees in operation -- I want to say even wider than that as it definitely has been up in the 81.4 or .6 but I need to watch it.

That seems like a wide band. Is that normal? I suspect I should put my other heater in but I'm left wondering if this Jager one is defective.

edit: meant to include "heater" in the title but seems can't edit it
 
I think so. I'm going to test it with water change water instead of on my sick fish though. Actually, I think it clicked off by that point. But it takes a while to change the water by 0.1 degrees Fahrenheit so I don't think it is lag.

edit: I realized this was unclear -- it stopped running somewhere before 82.4. So it's not stuck on but the "on" range seems way too wide.
