Embarrassing Reefer Problems

Explaining to the checkout person at Trader Joes that the two vodka fifths I am getting are for my reef tank and I am not an alcoholic, because my wife did all the shopping there two days ago and I wasn't getting anything else. The checker behind him had heard of carbon dosing before, so I had some corroboration for my story.

At least I was wearing a reefing shirt at the time too.

Meh they just wanted to know when the party started

You can only use that excuse once there ! Anymore and you will just look more guilty Ha! Maybe just include Kahlua, OJ or cranberry in the purchase since most alcoholics don’t mix lol!

I can’t use that excuse, they just tell me to put the bottle back… lol

That’s why I use vinegar (and I don’t seem to get cyano blooms with vinegar)

I got you beat.

We used women's stockings for vent covers at Reed Mariculture, as well as Vaseline to grease things. I need a turkey baster for transferring pods, so I go that as well. Plopped down a dozen stockings, a couple containers of Vaseline and a turkey baster on the conveyor and waited for the questions to begin lol

Fifths?! You gotta pump those numbers up! I just got 2x of the 1750ml bottles of "Burnetts" vodka for $14.99 each, which has to be the most insane alcohol to price ratio of any single alcoholic product available to the average consumer in the Bay area.

I forget which podcast, but they said to use any vodka that didn't come in a plastic bottle. $15 for a handle sounds like plastic bottle prices! TJ's is $10 for a glass 1/5th, and I got the glass dosing container for free with it.

The fun thing about Trader Joe’s is how the register people make small talk about what you’re buying. Also can be the not so fun thing.

Yeah, all of the radiologists I know (3 of them) hate small talk. Something something bedside manner. ;)

Oh yeah it's absolutely plastic. Why is plastic bad in this case? Do I need to drink this vodka instead of dose it?
