The link didn't come up for me ... where were you located? I spent a summer in Aleknagik and Dillingham, and also lived in Dutch for awhile. Pretty amazing country ... truly the wild west.

Funny coincidence Fingerwrinkles. We store our boat at Carolyn Smith's place in Aleknagik and I grew up spending most summers in KDLG land.
And yes, fireworks are a big part of why I miss it sometimes. Lol at ca sparklers. For my 18th bday my dad bought me a full set of 4 and 5" mortars. The city of Dillingham canceled their 4th show so they put them up for sale to the public. We shot them out of the level wind. It was quite exciting when the first 4"ER didn't launch and went off about 6' out of the pipe.
It was also quite thrilling to learn that while pro style mortars have a 2' fuse, it is also a .5sec fuse hah. RIP eyebrows. Don't get me started on seal bombs transplanted into bottle rockets...
Oh and Sig, I work on tugboats usually. I did a working vacation this year in an attempt to balance my budget. Sadly the fish didn't cooperate.

So cool ... I can remember laying on the dock on the south side of Aleknagik at 12:30 AM in July with the sun still up and the weather about 70 degrees ... we went through all the Wood River lakes doing salmon counts and had a mid camp up on Nerka near the outlet of Little Togiak. The best part though was the high abin about 500 yards downstream from the outlet for Kulik ... especially when all the top end campers who were flown in tricked out with all their new Cabela gear saw that they had to share the best spots with a trio of grungy college kids with discount store rods!
Sorry to hear the season wasn't that great, but at least the scenery should have been good.
