Featured Frag Swaps - Feedback and Updates

Hey all - I'd like to share some of our post-swap changes and ideas for improvement and capture any feedback that our members have.

Change #1 - all Bonus/Ultra Zoa entries must be a minimum of TWO polyps. This was an old rule that kind of fell by the wayside but I want to formalize it again.

Why? We had a ton of zoas show up with a single polyp - these frags are a little disappointing to get, have a lower chance of survival, and really flood the market (and let folks milk tickets).

Change #2 - Restructuring the Bonus/Ultra rounds:
  1. TWO Ultra Rounds
    • Round 1 - 3 Minutes, ONE pick / ONE ticket
    • Round 2 - 2 Minutes, multiple picks - spend the rest of your tickets
  2. ONE Bonus Rounds
    • 3 minutes, multiple picks - spend all of your tickets
Why? We wanted to shorten these rounds so folks not participating wouldn't have to wait as long - the entire process will now be done in under 10 minutes. It also makes more sense to have a single ticket Ultra round rather than an immediate free-for-all.

Let us know what other feedback you have or any changes you'd like to suggest for the next swap!

In favor of NO more single zoa polyps. I normally do not pick up zoas but wanted to have another one to the exosphere (I believe) I got last time, and which is doing very well.

The single polyp was gone after two days, something must have eaten it or so.

Same - I got a Stratosphere zoa single polyp, which never opened, and was completely gone in 2 days. Frustrating. Thankfully the other Utter Chaos zoa frag (with 3 polyps on it) is doing fantastic.

I can try to frag my strats for you if your still intrested in them?

Another suggestion to help against ppl gaming the system. Why don't you make a zoa bonus round / zoa ulta instead. That way you provide a zoa ultra, you get a zoa ultra in return. I feel zoa's are way way easier to propogate.

Agree on single polyp Zoas. Especially fresh cuts. Also picked a single polyp Strat, never opened and melted.

Would consider putting red/orange plating montis and standard mushrooms in the “banned” or “temporarily don’t count as an entry” category. I find they tend to be brought in in high numbers and tend to hang around until the free for all. Might force people to bring other more desirable pieces as a substitute. I think there are probably a couple of others that warrant similar treatment.

This suggestion came up in the BOD convo as well - but we don't have any plans to start banning corals that aren't super toxic or invasive (what's currently banned). I am sure folks bringing the montis and shrooms are mostly newer reefers OR just people using the swap as an easy mechanism for PIF. This is totally fine, that's part of the intent of it. If a bunch ends up in the free for all, no big deal!

If we start restricting the easy/fast corals we're going to just exclude members who only have access to those corals and potentially constrain participation and attendance. Definitely open to continuing to modify/restrict/update Bonus/Ultra coral submission rules specifically, however, and likely will.
