Mine are doing good! I put mine in a bucket outside. Gets morning sun and then shade the rest of the day. I put in some live phyto from @Coral Hub (Nathan) on the first day. It appears to be growing in there too. I haven't touched it since last week. I'll try to remember to get a pic tomorrow.

I would love to see that, if it’s really that easy maybe I’ll do a culture too

Not the best pic... put in some biomedia a I had cooking in my qt/observation tank. I put it in a couple days after I set up the bucket. I think I've had some die off, but still plenty alive. So I think the population will recover. The phyto has definitely multiplied.

I was lucky enough to get special sieve kit when I bought my phyto culture kit. But you could easily use something like the inexpensive brine shrimp sieve/nets.

I’m trying 3 different methods to culturing rn. Hopefully one will say something haha. It’s hard this time too cause of the temp. They do like warmer temps but it can easily cause a crash

This thread encouraged me to start a bucket! 5G bucket, got a new dry rock for it, tossed in some rubble I had from my tank, filled it up to maybe 3g or so, left the salinity a bit lower than my tank in case of too much evap, tossed in a banana peel for about 2 weeks, 1 week in water was greyish, added pods, was probably a bit too soon, seemed like I lost about half within a week or 2, water was fairly green by the time I pulled the peel, its been about a month total so far, can just barely see the bottom, i dont have many large pods left, but a very large amount of tiny ones. Been a very cool project so far!

Yes, outside, mostly shade but some some sun, no smell as far as I’m aware. Wish I would have put mesh over the top, small amounts of plant matter got blown in from the wind. Really surprised by how hardy they are, will probably bring them inside on the +100 degree days

Im doing tigs. I’m surprised you are having trouble, maybe I just have beginner’s luck or something . Literally just been a set it and forget it type deal, I take a peak in the bucket and add some more water every few days

Honestly never had any issue until moving the phyto is even a tad temperamental now unfortunately

I had an issue with my culture. Started last week when I noticed an odd tinge to the water but still very active population. Opted to let it ride. A few days later (this past Monday), there was brown slime on the surface and much darker brown hue to the water. No visible life. Scrapping this culture and starting a new one soon hopefully.

I havent harvested yet, but I do want to very soon. Was thinking about making a backup bucket as well
