My advice would be to purchase a used inexpensive SLR made in the last 5 yrs from canon, Nikon or sony that is capable of live view. Anything in the last 5 years should result in decent lack of noise at higher ISO. Purchase a macro lens, can be used, and not the camera manufacturer. Most macros have great optics regardless of who makes them, tamron, sigma, etc. Purchase some type of tripod, manually focus using a magnified view with ”live view” (lcd screen), and use a remote release (Can just be the built in timer in the camera)Looking back in time thru this thread I see recommendations for some Sony cameras. Naturally, they are much less expensive now. What are your thoughts of buying older used digital camera gear? eBay has some bodies for $80. A good option for trying out photography? Or are these typically basketcases?
When buying a body, all that’s needed is a lens?
