Help with auto Exhaust Fan Setup

Hello Fellow Reefers,
Looking for help and ideas to help setup the exhaust fan to come on after garage door closes. Suspecting tank is having issues with too much carbon dioxide after car leaves or backed in. I’m thinking of using one of the apex outlet and/or breakout box to turn on the exhaust fan for 5-7 mins after garage door closes. Any ideas or suggestions to achieve this?

Thanks in advance!

A few notes:

Perhaps the easiest is to change your habits.
Drive in such that the tailpipe is facing the door.
Wait an extra 30 seconds or so when you go in/out before closing the door.

Perhaps it is easier to have an always-on fan that is lower power.
I put in a couple of computer fans on a simple 12V supply, on all the time, take almost no power.
My garage is less musty as well.

Be careful with exhaust fans and negative pressure.
If you have a hot water heater in the garage, you could end up sucking the fumes
back down through the vent into the garage.
It is often better to pull fresh air in.

That said....
They sell simple garage door open/closed sensors for security systems.
Little magnet on garage door, and small metal plate you stick to the floor.
Connect one to an apex through breakout box.
Not really sure how to program Apex best.
Might be simplest to have Apex trigger the fan on when garage is open, and have a large delay on off.

It’s a no go, tried to asked wife to pull in instead of backing in, she said it’s easier and safer for her. I’ll look into the open/close sensors and magnet one if that’s possible. And Thanks for the heads up on the water heater part.

Do you run any of the home automation hubs ? I have a Samsung Smartthings Hub and you can setup triggers to activate another device to run for a set time.
