Well,
Stopped by High Tide today. The plan was to try a springer damsel and spotted dragnonette for flatworm control. Even if they don’t eat them they would be cool fish to add.

I got there and he had a ton of fish in stock including some recent releases. After a long discussion with Kenny I ended up with a yellow coris wrasse.

Friendly advice, don’t bring the wife along. First thing she spotted was what I thought was a saddleback sharp nose puffer. It was actually a mimic file fish. Needless to say I had to get this fish too. Well, the budget is a little blown. Looked over and spotted the tank with convict tangs. Saw one looking really fat. This fish has been on the list for a few years but kept hearing how hit or miss they can be.

Ended up with the wrasse, the file fish, and a plump convict tang. It was hard not to leave with the spotted dragonette and the starcki damsel. He just had a few of the damsels that were released. Oh well, best laid plans…

I guess the flat worms can wait. If the wrasse does not take care of it I will be back again for those other fish. Either way I will probably be getting the spotted dragonette, starcki, and maybe a pink streaked wrasse. We’ll see.

Fish are in the smaller tank and already eating well. Fingers crossed.

If you are looking for some fish stop by. He has a lot of cool stuff in stock! Will post pics of the new fish later.

I have had worse things ruin my plans.

I also bought the dragonet for flatworm control but I do not think that worked out.

From all of my research on this topic, this seems to be the most effective flatworm predator:

Halichoeres marginatus
I am hoping the yellow coris wrasse works out. If not, still a cool fish to have in the tank. I have flat worms in the small tank so it will be easy to figure out.

Yellow coris wrasse is a great fish, even if it doesn't eat the flatworms. As others mentioned, make sure you have absolutely no holes or gaps in your lid. I've had one jump out of a 1/4" gap!

yes, thankfully the lids on both tanks have no gaps at all. Appreciate the warning. I have had my labouti wrasse jump out during feeding time. They get all excited, the feed door is open, and next thing you know wrasse on the floor flopping around. I thought I lost him twice since it is a about a 4.5ft fall. Thankfully, he was just stunned both times.
