I’m going to cfm. You want free corals ?

Good morning unfortunately I need to attend a funeral tomorrow. My my stepdaughter who will be the newest member will be there to pick out some Coral for the store anything that you could share with us would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

Nick thank you for donating the Kessil Mounts for our donated Kessil lights ( Lights donated by Kessil ) that will be used at our frag swaps.

I have 2 extra pieces of live rock that are each about 10”x6”x5” that I don’t need for my tank start. They are cycled and have life on them, including potentially some hitchhiking anemones that I don’t know enough about to ID, so use caution. Per the original terms of the PIF offering they are free to supporting members and I can bring them to the CFM in a bucket.

Got a picture of those nems your talking about (someone would likely be able to id them)? It's probably not a good idea to pass things along that could cause problems for someone that doesn't know what they are getting themselves into. Thanks alot for actually mentioning that on your post it's commendable.

Some pests nems like aptasia or Majano's can become a plague overtime. Some mange them, others are crazy cautious and diligent on what's added to their tanks to try not getting them.

Do you have those on the rocks you used in your current tank you recently started as well?

I took a minute to research these, and one is definitely Aiptasia based on its behavior of retracting into a crevice when poked. The others I can't tell if they're Majano or something similar. Here is a not-great picture:

I haven't seen any on the rocks I am keeping, but I'll be keeping an eye out. I ordered "JoesJuice" to address them if I see any.

Looks like Majanos for sure

It will be the best 30 dollars you’ve spent in this hobby. How long and what do you know about saltwater and corals ?

I have been in the hobby for two months. I would say i know just the basic and some beginner soft corals thats pretty much and by the way i just adding pods to the tank

@Cspencer
Those rocks should be removed from the aquarium
They have the worst reef herpes: majano and aiptasia
dry out the rocks until next summer to be safe
I personally agree with this given where your tank currently is and how long it's been running. I have some extras live rock in santa clara zero pest anemones if you wanna try again don't toss the rock just dry it out.

With those pest nems I would ask that you be a good reefer and not pass those on to someone else. (You could if you let them dry out for a while as @Kensington Reefer suggested)

Alternatively keep a close eye on your current rocks yet if they are from same source it's highly. Likely they are effected as well. Just reach out if you wanna come pick out some rocks. I have a good bit of them actually. They've been soaking from 8-months - a few years.

Joe's juice - aptasia x and the like works but not very well in my opinion your more likely to make them spread than actual get rid of them. Presently if i see a aptasia on a coral or something it's seriously not going in my tanks, I would likely throw it away if the part the anemone is on can't be removed.

The rocks were from the highend lawyer’s aquarium. They were seeded for over 5 years. I wouldn’t kill the rock since it’s a small aquarium. Inspect carefully and kill at will. You can always reset but you can’t add 5+ years.
I definitely am inclined to keep the rocks I do have in the aquarium as is. The tank is full of life even though it’s only 2 weeks old. I’ve identified so many good hitchhikers already on them, I’d hate to give that up.

As for the extra rocks, if anyone wants them knowing they do have pest anemones along side all the good life and are prepared to treat that, I’d be happy to pay it forward.
