Got the clam 2” from Petco on Black Friday sale

How to crank up the light ? I check with par meter the clam currently at 120 par . Should i move the clam closer to the lights ? Im running two Radion g4
Max clams need 250+ min is in my sps tank getting over 350. It may endure a while with low light, yet will likely only decline over time.

I definitely agree both increasing light to clam or moving it higher in the tank.

The tank's height is 13 inches. Increasing it by 250 or more could be killing LPS corals, will fine-tune each light separately work?

Yea if you could spot light it or raise it higher could help. Better if you have a par meter to figure out a good spot and how to best adjust lights.

Many ways to take a bath but Ive never soaked/ cured new dry rock or old dry rock that I dont know the history of in old water.. I start with clean saltwater toss in an air stone for circulation then a loose lid to help evaporation. Test after 3-4 days to check if rocks are leaching anything, change water regardless since may be other stuff thats leaches we can’t detect.. Test again another 3-5 days. Rocks are sponges and will absorb old dirty water so hard to tell if they’re leaching anything at the start like high phosphates etc if you start with old water..Optional you can test clean water first in the beginning to get a baseline if unsure of parameters..If parameters are still high after the second testing repeat and keep changing the water until they drop.. Once parameters are acceptable then I add a cup of gravel or rocks outa the sump to jump the bb or can just add a pinch or two of food/ ammonia etc if you need to actually cycle the rock.. If not just toss them in your existing tank or sump and cycle in there..Honestly I’ll soak rocks for a couple months in a covered bin add some bristle worms and keep pinching food to get a good slime coat and sponge growth.. Maybe add a heater if needed depending on temps if indoors or out. When I use this method I get no algae or growth on the new added rocks just coraline takes off which is a love hate thing on my end lol..Long time ago I tossed a few small dry rocks I got off Craigslist in an existing 30g immediately bad mojo’s!! Lost my entire clean up crew overnight plus a fish! live and learn!
Really depends on existing water and rock volume also since larger systems can dilute leaching rocks better and be more forgiving..
Maybe a second light on the new tank depending on what your guna roll with!
Best of luck
