While I won't say that it's "easy" by any stretch, it definitely is a skill that one can learn to be good at with enough practice. I would say the hardest part is when you have a metal board used as a "pre-heatsink" which I think a lot of LED lights have, it can pull away heat real easily.That guy fixes all kinds reef gear. Awesome to have a person like that in the hobby. Wish I could solder like that.
