selling on classifieds in general is dangerous, craigslist is just the most popular listing in our area. It's not craigslist creating the problems, it's just creating more transactions, thus more potential for trouble.
 
Heh thats like when I was young and worked as a pizza delivery person. "Can you deliver the pizza behind the building? Oh and bring change for a large bill!"

Yep... makes sense. I have shifted a few things on CL. I've sold some corals and I got some characters who came to my house who looked a little ... err.. .dodgy is the English expression. However, even though they were taciturn and a little scary, they gave up the cash and didn't put a gun in my face :)

A couple of them did make me think twice about classifieds again.

I sold my car on Craigslist, huge bunch of flakes in the world, I mean when the average asking was $3k for a car in the same condition as mine, and I was asking just over half that everyone wanted me to hold it just for them when they get around to blah blah blah... I swear I see something I want for a kickass price I tell them "I can come now" Luckily I sold it to this little asian guy who reminded me of Mr. Miagi :D

I gave away some free file cabinets.. free.. just come by and pick them up... 100's of emails within an hour, all of them wanting me to contact them... yet they all want me to call them personally, instead I send emails, like 2 people respond.
 
thats the funny thing about CL. if you post something for free everyone wants you to hold it or even worse drop it off.
When i sold my car on CL last year the weirdo's came out of the woodwork for that one.

my favorite was when someone asked me if i would take payments from them for my 69 Camaro. Uh I'm not a bank.
