Let’s see some pictures of what you diy built.

Oh man if only I could find some pics of a diy wet/dry I did out of a 5gl bucket when I was a sophomore in high school back in 1993. I use to get aquarist monthly or aquarium hobbyist monthly something like that, and they had a diy article for the build, cost me about $30 I think, and for a high schooler budget, this was great!!! Ran a 85gl with triggers and puffers as well as a canister filter and a hob prizm skimmer. That’s where I started! Lol. That was my second tank.
 
I do modifications more than true DIY from scratch. Most recent is a nem protector for the overflow weirs in my 24 gal aquatop AIO. A single overflow protector wasn't tall enough and even next size up was just wider but not taller. Luckily they're sold in 2 packs so I just had to cut off the mount from the second one and glue it to the bottom (while laid flat on a table so it still sits straight along the wall)

I don’t think this counts as diy but this thing is a life saver!!!! My mobile water change station!!!! Makes changing water in 3 different systems a breeze!!!
