Lights just came on and the yellows havent forgotten about the new tank-mate.. :( As much as I love my Yellow tangs when they fully flare up like that, I am not liking them a single bit when they are doing it to the new tank mate.. Hope sanity and peace prevails, else will have to rehome her to save her.. No matter how much you prepare, there is always that 1 thing that spoils the plans.

That is brutal.

The silver lining is that you should be easily able to take it out.

And if it was me, I would take it out/back into the box, immediately.

keeping an eye on things.. Orange Shoulder and Hippo tang playing peacemaker role, trying to keep the yellows away from CBB.. I just read other Alpha fish sometimes do this to ensure that other fish don't get control of the entire tank and to define pecking order

I saw CBB starting to peck at rocks which is a good sign but goes back to the top corner as soon as she sees a YT.. yellows aren't constantly chasing her, at least for now (just fed the tank so that may be another reason)

That sounds like 4D chess to me, hopefully it works out for you.

My Yellow Tang has never chased any fish around, including my Copperband. The only exception is my Yellow Tang fought with my Convict Tang periodically for the first year or so. Those are the two largest fish in my tank and I purposely only buy small and medium sized fish to ensure there is plenty of space for all fish and to keep the bioload/nutrients in check (eg, I prefer to have 3-4 small fish than 1 big fish).

I hope your Yellow Tangs mellow out but it seems doubtful. I also also add a mirror when I release any new fish. That distracts the aggressive fish in the tank every single time (eg, Yellow Tang, Convict Tang, male Bimac, Leopard Wrasse).
