Cali Kid Corals

Massive bubble algae bloom (solutions?)

Well they're big so they eat a lot. And they eat bubble.

They are slow moving and have tiny little shrimp claws so shouldn't be a threat. Maybe they'll go after coral but I heard if they do it's not to eat but to wear as a hat.

I'll probably have one available in a little bit once they clear my frag out.
Thought about buying 9 of them and then capturing them when they have cleaned house

Well more will knock it down faster but probably not more than 2 for long term.

I have 3 now. When they finish cleaning up you can have 2 if you like.

Appreciate that. Was going to get 9 but a little overkill -plus I don’t want to be gone if I cut them loose for a week!

I got a couple pithos and they eat bubble algae like crazy but are huge and kinda creepy looking. I thought they would be small like a emerald but they are like sally lightfoot size.
My pitho crabs also like to act like decorator crabs. But they do a number on bubble algae.

Speaking of bubble, has anyone ever seen it in the sand bed? This is a new one for me.

It's reef special grade, the coarse one. I haven't disturbed it but this is a highish flow area where the wavemakers do push the sand around. Have a few bubbles on the rocks but just one or two here and there. Not infested or anything.

I'll suck it out with the python but kinda concerning :(
