Michael's 300 In Vegas

Reorganized the dosing so the small containers are easier to reach and started the lanthanum chloride dosing at 10 mL/ day.

Glued down a bunch of frags. A lot of cool chalices, favias, a few acans, some leptos and a few others.

Also, after a few weeks, a lot of manual removal, a half a dozen urchins, a couple hundred snails, a sea hair which I haven't seen since I put it in, the hair algae problem is mostly gone.

I've been dumping lanthanum chloride in the skimmer to keep my phosphates in check. And I turned one down earlier, but I kind if like the idea of automating the phosphate testing with the Neptune trident and LaCl dosing to mitigate the huge amounts of food I like dumping in the tank. I am already dosing vodka and have one more dosing head free. Either acropower or LaCl will be that one.

that water is so clear, love that effect

At least there's a drip loop or two in there....I think lol...

That's some serious wiring.
The yin to your yang, there is balance in the universe.

What’s funny is the first time I was at Michael’s house in SV he showed me this cool pass through his contractor built in the wall, with like a mini custom closet with door access in the hallway - kept everything hidden yet very accessible.

This time he’s just like fuck it, plastic tubs on the floor.

When (if) I ever get the green light to build a 300 gallon, I'd probably do the same hahaha...

After my build, I hate wire management now

That was 2-3 years into the build. Looks back in the journal and you'll see a rats nest under the tank for quite a while. This way I still don't have the wiring near the sump, and it is still accessible.

A wiring cabinet comes later. One thing at a time.

What's the wattage of the kessil lights? I bought some beefier meanwell power supplies for my tanks and got rid of a ton of bricks. They're available on Amazon, and meanwell is what kessil uses for the ap9x lights.

I'd imagine they'd have some that could get rid of at least a couple of those at once, though maybe not all. You do have to wire them though, and buy the appropriate dc connectors. I usually buy that stuff on AliExpress, but not sure if the recent changes in the country are screwing that route up.

I also built some smart, dc, relays to help with it. Equivalent to the maven but diy and $50.

19 volts DC and 90 watts max. I was thinking this would be a good way to go, but I'd appreciate any pointers here.

A360XE?

19v seems tricky. It's not what I had in mind, but there's 180w, laptop, power supplies on amazon for ~$35. At a minimum you'd have half as many. If you're running at < 100% you could put more on them, but that seems like it's getting into gray area.

This is similar to what I use and looks like it'd work well for you: https://trcelectronics.com/products/mean-well-hlg-600h-20. 600W, IP67 AL enclosure (which means also implicitly passively cooled), 10-20v output. There might be a higher output one too, but I'd personally do 2 power supplies with the lights split across them, so you only lose half if something goes awry.

I found that model by looking at digikey: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/led-drivers/137
