Michael's 300 In Vegas

@H2OPlayar
Get an appropriate ladder!!
Having your wet feet slip off that handle and smashing your teeth into the edge of the tank is a very scary vision

And
Do you think you have enough lights over that beast?!?!
Yeah, I do think I have enough lights, now. One row wasn't enough for the 32" of width though.

And to everyone worried about my safety, I've only had a couple times the ladder moved on me.

And then yesterday I got this from Target.

I got to borrow a par meter and checked some top and bottom numbers. Close to 200 at the bottom and 400 near the top of the rocks. I'm pretty happy with those numbers. I think 10x of the kessil 360's are good. No need for more, yet.

Also, after the week of Ciprofloxacin in tank and then an Amoxicillin treatment followed by a 40+ gallon wet skim, I got this really cool cyano growth in my 1st sump chamber I have never seen before. Go ahead and say whatever rude thing you think it looks like, but I am pretty sure an alien didn't come blow their nose in my tank.

I am pretty sure it will die, but look at the leg of the blue fromia starfish crawl up the glass a week after getting stung by the haddoni carpet.

One of the local garage vendors had a really cool goniopora colony and some torches I picked up.

I am starting to get some polyps back on this pink branching monti, so I am hoping my tank is over the sps killing hump and I can start to add more hard corals.

Here is a grafted digi that is starting to come back.

The Purple Non-Sulfuric bacteria seems to be growing well. I will start dosing that in a few weeks once it is done growing.

The alien didn't blow his nose, he busted a nut.

Let us know how the PNSB affects your nutrients as you start to dose. They get marketed as a magic bullet and I'm skeptical as usual.
You mean I am supposed to test my nutrients?

I guess I could tone down my lanthanum chloride and vodka while I dose those to make it a real experiment. I was just doing it because it seemed fun to grow more stuff in a controlled manner, and maybe I give some away to local reefers here to build up good will.

Spread the love from the Bay Area
But I’m not sure they’re gonna want that nasty snot you showed me!

How much vodka are you dosing and is it working (or do you even know if you aren't testing nutrients)?

Also what the heck is PNSB?

I know people who use it in there ponds but its been used in sewage treatment plants and septic systems for years plus alot other uses..
It may bottom out nutrients so keep up with the fat fish feeding! Cool stuff

Lol yeah I gathered that:

My question is what the heck is it supposed to do?
"Everything"

Supposedly when you do microbiome testing it's that big band of beneficial pelagic bacteria that you should have. I used it to cycle my dry rocks this time before putting them in the tank and it definitely ate through all the gunk that was leaching out. There's other claims that it can eat through excess nutrients in your tank, also that it feeds corals, etc. Whether these grow kits have the exact species you need or not is up for debate too.

Interesting, that is supposedly what my tank is "missing" according to the AB test. Maybe I will use this as my before/after change for the next microbiome test.

Your report looked fine, even after hitting the tank with oxolinic acid, it's actually the rhodobacteraceae band not the pink one and you had a fair amount.

The thing I'd like to see if it can replace Michael's vodka dosing and some lanth. But that would require a fair amount of testing lol.

25 mL/day right now. I might increase it to combat the nitrates some more. I might also just start the Purple non-sulfuric bacteria instead and see what it all does together.

I mentioned it in your trader joe thread, but I don’t seem to get any kind of cyanobacteria bloom when I use vinegar. My crappy math says it should not depress the pH that much in the amounts I’m using either

purple non-sulfur bacteria
I am pretty sure this is from my heavy antibiotic use and not from the vodka as I have been using vodka forever and this is the first time I found the "snot"

Maybe this is an excuse to get the N/P trident
