High Tide Aquatics

My journey journal..

Need a update? You can't just post up a half filled tank pic then ghost us for a week! The suspense is killing me!?! Lol
Haha We’re wet and salty! Big thanks to @under_water_ninja for helping fill some loose ends on plumbing fittings.

Just dropped my troops in! I’ve had these clowns for about a year. I had a harem of 8 but gave a pair to my niece and a pair to a high school student that setup a Biocube at her school. They’re helping build ammonia in the tank and currently running brightwell’s XLM along with 4 fully populated maxspect nano-tech bioblocks to speed cycle the tank.

Within the week, I’ll be moving them back to their 40 gallon tank and throwing in the chromis I got a couple months ago from @Da_Neefer then the wrasses, then the rest of the rock structures and tangs, then coral and the lights will go up.

We’re cycled and fish are in from the the Reefer. Decided to keep a pair of my ocellaris clowns here and I’ll put my big female black ice clown in the bookshelf tank.

Excited to add this pair of blue leopard star wrasses.

It’s been a long fricken day! Ever transfer a tank and have your main rock structure break on you? Yeah, me too! SMH

Luckily it wasn’t too bad and I kinda like how they stacked in the tank, might not bother trying to bond and fix it.

Well here we are, the Red Sea Reefer is now empty and everything is transferred into the new tank. Everything seems to have acclimated fine. All the corals are still scattered and not really exactly where I want everything, so that’s a-whole-nother day.

Went with a hanging light setup given the eurobrace and the fact I have the tank very close to the wall which I’ll go over later. Now I need to decide on adding a second AP9X, 2 360x’s, 2 XR15’s or just going 3 XR30s and ditch the AP9X..

Going a different route than than the MP10s, was thinking MP40s but like I mentioned, poor planning occurred and I didn’t leave enough space behind the tank to fit them literally only gave myself an inch of space back there. Haha I don’t want pumps on the sides. So I’m thinking maybe a pair of Sicce x-stream sdc pumps or Tunze 6105s. Really didn’t want cables inside the tank, that’s part of the reason I’ll be running a closed loop in conjunction with an open return.

Red Sea tank and equipment will be cleaned and soon posted.

Lost a couple SPS to over night RTN.
Red dragon, bubble gum Digi and my WD .

A few losses are expected with tank transfers though.

Hopefully that’s all to go from this transfer!

On another note, I started my day with a power outage in my area. Check out my sump water level. Lol

Good planning and measuring? Good luck? A little bit of both!! Haha

That light reflection you see in the photo is a backup battery that was powering the xf350 gyre at 10% and ran the return pump for 5 minutes every hour. It was also powering an IM Mightyjet 326 in a nano that I’m holding some Anthias, a couple wrasses and my black ice clown. Used about 30% by the 5 hr mark.

As far as the sump area, I still have some cable management to tighten up, minor plumbing on my closed loop that will also run a manifold. Then I’ll clean up the sump. The goal is to have that all done this weekend.

I’m debating on adding LED strips to the sump area for effect. Lol

When you say adding a manifold to the closed loop, you mean a closed loop manifold and not manifold as in running a reactor, correct?

There will be a dual reactor connected through the closed loops return line. The manifold will be Tee’d off the main line and reduced to 3/4”. Flow controlled with ball valve on the vertical pipe.

You returning reactor outputs to main tank so it still a closed loop - not the sump? You valving everything so you can open reactors for service and not drain your tank?
