Need help picking a new DT

It’s gonna be a great tank. Looks like they made some real improvements since I got my gen1 RSR750, basically addressed everything people had issues with. I really like the aluminum frame for the stand, the split sump, dual return nozzles, and the top bracing.
The split sump was a huge selling point for me! Seems pretty practical and a nice place for an ATS, reactors etc

Now i gotta inventory my gear and see what else I gotta buy. I think it’ll be minimal minus a bigger skimmer

Great choice. I love Red Sea tanks for plug and play systems. I've owned many RSR tanks with the biggest being the 525XL. I've seen the S1000 in person it's pretty amazing, so I'm sure the S850 will be as well. As John mentioned they upgraded and fixed all the issues. The split sump will be great as a frag tank as well!

Ya I’m pretty excited. Slightly nervous about how/where I’ll setup my water change system but that shouldn’t be too hard to sort out.

My tank also shares a wall with the garage. I have a pass-through and have ATO, dosing, CO2 scrubbing reactor, some electronics, etc in the garage. Really helps to declutter the tank area (at least it is supposed to be helping).

yup! that's the plan. gonna setup the RODI unit & 2 water containers (one for ATO and one for AWC) on the other side of the wall with an EB832 and some of the random Apex modules (maybe the brain too) just to have them out of the way.

Now I have to hunt down some Norwesco (or similar) water storage tanks & plan out the mixing station... also need to rearrange a bunch of stuff in the garage to make it space efficient.

edit: I should start a build thread...
