I saw a bunch of huge colonies of Romano Anemones at an LFS. I really liked them and I have a few questions...
1. What are the lighting requirements?
2. Are they hosting anemones?
3. Will they kill my clowns?
4. Will they kill my BTA & RBTA?
5. Are they easy to care for?
...clueless here but the ones my brother has are mostly bright green and the size of a paly/zoa with bubble kind of tentacles; bought them as a small colony and when he realized they were more of a pest than something nice, started moving them (rocks) to the sump
they look nice and harmless but since I read they are considered not very welcome I steered away from grabbing some for my tank.
Sure but what are they? Many of us have been in this trade (business) for a long time and never even head of those. I just sent emails to several wholesaler friends and none had ever head of this as well. Ask him a latin name next time you go.
The guy at AAF said that they are very rare. They got them from the indo-pacific ocean. He started with about 5 of them and in a year there were about 20. They split very often (lots more than RBTA) and they only get 2" max. I know this sound exactly like a majano to everyone but it isn't. I can tell by the tentacles. The tentacles have tiny little branches coming off of them which makes the anemone look really fuzzy. They have these weird little electric green bubbles randomly on the anemone. There are about 2-5 green bubble things on an anemone. The anemones are brown with tan-purple feet. When I asked for the Latin name he said he didn't know, but he said they also call them hairy mushrooms (even though they are anemones), however, when I researched hairy mushrooms they look nothing close to what these are. He said they don't need very high lighting and are very hardy. They can host clowns and don't have enough of a powerful sting to kill the clowns, but clowns don't go in them because the anemones are too small. Is that any help?
Like I said, they only get about 2" maximum. The beaded anemone looks too big and it is too Grey in color. And by saying the anemone looks fuzzy, I mean like REALLY fuzzy.
It is similar. The anemone has tentacles, and the tentacles have tiny tentacles, and then on just a few tentacles there are little green ball things. It looks similar to some of the hell's fire, but not exactly.
