High Tide Aquatics

Rostatos Reefer 450 and Reefer 170

Interesting. I assume it moves slowly to not float particles up. I'll have to look into the constant stirring though, I could have sworn this actually reduces potency

I took a video for you. It’s a very gentle stir at the bottom and clear/saturated water up top. Many other reactors stir the daylights out of the kalk and create a huge plume of kalk when doing so. This does not.

Also working on a way to free up more room under the cabinet. I only use one reactor for GFO so this huge and cumbersome manifold is going. Here is what I came up with. I’ll glue it in place after I go on vacation soon. Can’t risk a leak on a new pipe if I won’t be home.

How does this work? I assumed it was for a ph probe.
According to Randy Holmes, the ph probe isn’t sensitive enough. I assume that is because you only get to the hundredths on a ph probe. A .1 change in ph is like 10% less saturation. Dont quote my numbers on that exactly. But the conductivity probe goes down to the thousandths.

Actually .1 is even more.

here is why I love bare bottom...every two weeks I pull all of this off the bottom of the tank. Think about how much of that would just accumulate in your sand bed. Gross!

What's in the pics was vacuumed from the display tank? Gets me thinking.

I'm running with sand and I've cut waaay back on vacuuming. I do it once a month. Or two months, probably. Back when I vacuumed dinos every two to three days my sand was super clean; too clean. I might have swung in too far in wrong direction.Going to ramp up sand vacuuming to every week or two.

Yes. That’s all from the display

Out with the old, and in with the new “manifold”. Much more room in the sump cabinet. Moved the GFO reactor to a better spot. More room for the skimmer now as well. All worked out great.

Also, had a quick reminder to clean my kalk reactor outlet...wow

No3 still stays around .2-.5 Ppm without n03 dosing

Po4 is at .05

noticed some bleaching on some corals after my two weeks of vacation. I think it’s the lack of heavy feeding.

It wasn’t overflowing and it was pretty soft so I think liquid was still getting through. I think slightly out of water would make it worse. I think it would actually harden. I think
