High Tide Aquatics

Science Teacher and Relatively New Reefer

Is the tank with palys your home tank?
Short term learning setup or long term experience?
What's the plans on automation when schools on summer break like a controller, ato, inkbird, wify leak detectors?
Is your I.T department cool with equipment using wify or using a personal hot spot?
Any other teachers on backup when your traveling?
Just wondering since we've seen a few class room tanks having to get broken down for various reasons etc..
Class room fish/ reptile tanks were some of my best memories in school! Great your on board$
Best of luck

I can donate as much dry rock as you might need/want. It's actual rock for reefs, not just random rock from the ground. But it's not live anymore, been sitting in totes for a few years now, so no microfauna on it, but bacteria will populate it just fine.

But SFUSD really has marine biology and zoology classes? Cool... they won't teach algebra to 8th graders, but they'll have more advance science subjects... so not all hope is lost.

I would love that! Thanks!

HEY HEY! Longtime sadly inactive member here, but I have reef tanks in my middle school science classroom in the East Bay. Hard to believe, but coming up on 10th classroom tank anniversary this month. Would love to hear how it is going for you. Huge commitment to have a tank in a school with so many logistical issues, but SO worth it. Feel free to contact me. I am trying hard to get back into BAR activity bc I have been sorely missing it. Also need to do serious tank renewal.
PS. I agree with others to remove the palys, and I choose to not keep any zoanthids just in case. Plenty of corals without those possible risks.

You just missed a great swap @MolaMola

Glad to hear it was great! I need to get my tanks in order. Been difficult few years at school but I'm glad I have stuck it out. I will check out swap threads to see what I missed!
