Skimmer Recomendations

So, Curve 9 is a bust. The sob is louder than i ever imagined, almost as if it was intentionally built to be loud. Also, i now see why its 500 bucks and other skimmers of similar rating are at least a bit more expenisve. The skimmer body plastic is thin and brittle, this one came with a small crack, so im returning it even if it ran quiet, and it doesnt even feel like acrylic.

so, taking suggestions again!

im thinking this one: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/super-reef-octopus-sro-3000int-8-in-sump-protein-skimmer.html

If you are willing to spend the $500, look at the Vertex 180i. I've been asking around since I was worried it would be too small for a possible 180g build but folks on RC have said that Vertex under rates their skimmer by a lot and it would be fine for a 180g system.

that vertex looks awefull nice, however per BRS, they suggest 100g max for heavily stocked.

I was worried when I saw that too, but actual users of the skimmer have told me it will handle a 180g with no problem.

Here are some:

Also, check out the air draw differences. The RO3000INT you listed has it at 1100lph, the 180i has it at 1300lph but the RO is listed at twice the capacity. While airdraw is not the end all in skimmer performance, it does point to how efficient it can be. Plus the Vertex uses a Sicce pump, I'm not familiar with the Bubble Blaster pumps from RO.

Going too big with a skimmer will have problems too.
