Piggybacking on this if I may, does anyone use sand/substrate in their fuge?

Well I just dumped some in my fuge area, I mean less than $5 for a 10lbs bag of Caribsea aragonite hard to pass up... also threw in a 20 lbs bag of the "live" stuff from Caribsea it's the oolite stuff and looks super silky.. but man I could see that stuff turning into a perpetual dust storm in the tank, luckily the fuge is a low energy area so it's good. Can be a nice place for critters to burrow regardless of what I decide.

Another reason is I wanted to see what it looks like in a relatively small confined area

Yes in the 190. I don’t remember how many pounds but it was almost 4 bags of #3 from Neptune Aquatics.

Each of the bags is 40lbs. I got 3 and had a footprint of 48” x 30” and it yielded about 2-1/2” all around. More than I was planning but it did make it so the bottom never was uncovered by flow.

When I do it again I’ll shoot for not more than 1”.
