Is the rio a prop pump? Prop pumps have a much more dispersed flow... non props are highly concentrated and can easily strip sps flesh off if positioned wrong.

I have http://www.bigalsonline.com/Fish_Water-Pumps-Powerheads_Power-Heads_Koralia-Evolution_9659649_82.html?tc=default

not sure If I'm allowed to post links like that, but it seems easiest way to find anything on google :)

I ended up getting the Rio 6HF and I'm very happy with it so far. I had to work for more than 30 minutes trying to make the green BioCube return pump tube fit on to the Rio's return head. After that, the gray piece that connects the green return pump tube to the tank's return pump head flew off when I turned the pump on, sending a spout of water up into the air. I unplugged it quickly, then fixed everything with a little reef-safe super glue. :)
It's louder than my old pump, but it's not unbearably loud. :)

EDIT: I'll post later with an update on how the SPS react to it.

I say swap out that green tube for a new one. Can find at any hardware store. The green tube seems to come off the return part very easily.

I would, but then the gray piece that connects the tube to the return head wouldn't fit on the tube properly.

You can get one the right size that will stay on there better. Trust me. I've replaced several that had the same problem as yours
