What’s your one month review on this big guy? On the fence :)
I didn’t think the Nyos could be beat, but the Reef Octopus Elite is amazing! Super quiet and pulls out thick skimmate. DC pump makes it so much easier to dial in without the need for a skimmer stand. Definitely get the Reef Octopus.

Need more videos / photos of the livestock! Or I can finally make my trip out there after my Internship and bring my camera
I’ve got a camera, just lazy to take pictures of my fishes and corals. Much easier to take pics of equipment lol

I have the Elite 200 Int and love it too. But, I would probably buy a Deltec next. Seems like they have a decades long proven superior design.

Honestly don’t think they warrant the $$
I’ve used many different brands
Reef Octopus gets the gunk
But that’s just me...from here

I just switched from a Deltec to a reef octo. I prefer the octo but I think that’s mostly cause it’s bigger. Both very quiet and well made.
Which Deltec did you use previously and which Octo are you using now? Need to compare apples with apples but you are already saying this.

I know @JustinBolton is a big fan of it after which I started to look into them. Also, when I reached out to Ozotech recently related to their Ozone generator they had mentioned that the Octo are not fully Ozone ready by design (they are Ozone resistant though), while the Deltec definitely are (they are big in (very) large scale commercial skimmer applications).

I was using the Deltec 1000i, and am now using the 220 INT elite. The reef octo has the pump external to the skimmer body which is nice for maintenance. Otherwise they both skim well, advantage to the reef octo due to size obviously.

The octo does have a little nipple on the intake for ozone, not sure if there is more to being ozone ready or not but that’s the stated feature.

Just watched the video about the Deltec 1000i, build quality looks great! Deltec, Tunze, Porsche.....Germans sure know how to build great products! ;) Let's see some Porsche pics!

Yes, I have my ozone plugged into the additional ozone intake. This is what Ozotech (who I believe know their stuff too) said about this particular skimmer model:

“the injector pulls from the silencer and the ozone line at the same time, however, the air will be drawn from the path of least resistance. This will usually be the silencer, especially if you are using the check valve on the ozone outlet line. If you have increased your air flow through the silencer, this would be why your ORP is not climbing.”

What this means is that the amount of ozone generated by the ozone generator needs to be higher than actually needed, which is not a big deal but I had some issues with this in the beginning, but just set the generator higher. They created a manual workaround to this issue which I can post somewhere if anyone needs this information.

Regarding the Deltec - the comparable model to the 220 INT should be the 2000i, and I believe they will have /already have models with an external pump.

I use a 400i on my 29g and a 600i on a 90g, both are dead silent. The larger ones can have squeegee tops that clean the neck which is nice. Got both in 2020, haven't needed any repairs, but vermetid shells can get stuck in the needle wheels of course. The overflow bypass tube that prevents overflowing the cup with water if the level rises too high is nice too for preventing big messes.

I use a small air pump on the inlet to push the ozone thru. Thus positive pressure

That ATO reservoir is so cool
Thanks. Definitely is useful during long vacations. Don’t think I ever posted about here. It’s made by Advanced Acrylics. Dimensions are 36”x8”x28” with 1/4” thick white acrylic. Water volume is 35g. I got a thin sheet of white acrylic for the side for my stickers so I can hang it once it gets full.

Very nice! Didn't realize you were selling some fish. What happened to the zebra tang you had? And where did you get the black tang?

I wasn’t planning on selling them so soon, but the buyer wanted to buy 5 of them at the same time. His tank was suitable so I was happy to rehome them sooner. I’m keeping the Zebra Tang. I still have a 6.5-7” Black tang if you are interested :)
