Tank problems, Need help

Ouch, right after the swap I have a tank problem. Everything was great, I went out for lunch and came back to a dark tank. After a lot of trouble shooting, I found that my AC thought that the tank temp was 101. It turned off the light and turned on all fans. By the time I found out what was going on the actual temp was 70. The worst part is that is kept cycling on and off my MH. I switched ballasts, not sure if the first ballast still works. I put the heater and MH on manual on. Where i need help is, should I try and replace the prob, of take this time to get a DJ strip and reagular timers. If I go with the DJ strip, what do you guys use for a temp controller? Luckly its cold so I can relly on the heater temp setting to keep the tank at 78 during the next few day. So far everything seems to be doing okay.

I just use the heavy duty timer from intermatic and a Stealth heater. During warmer months I have a fan on a timer that comes on during the afternoon, I'm lucky though it never really gets too warm where I live. It's easier to heat a tank then cool it.

something you should do with your AC (Junior? Senior? Professional?) is have in "failsafe" code in case it gets "too hot" something like if temp > 95 then HT1 on. Or whatever a "super hot" temp you are sure won't happen.

Has anyone had a temp prob go bad? If its just the prob I might just get 2 and work on a fail safe code. I'm worried it might be a problem with the AC.

Sorry to hear that Tim.. yeah the probe does go bad once a while. I think you should get the replacement. Cheaper than buying another controller.
