I'm a visual person so I love stuff like this to put things into perspective.

In school we did an excersise to map the distances of the planets from the sun and each other. We went out to this HUGE field and using the scale that one mile equaled either 1/4 or 1/2 inch (been a while can't remember) we started with the sun at the end of a roll of adding machine tape and measured to Mercury. Drew the planet and then measured from Mercury to Venus. By time we were done we had taped a couple of rolls of the tape together. It REALLY gave you the perspective on planetary distances.

Whoa @ 785px × 3,593px I guess I need a jumbotron or the like!! Deepwater NPS?

When we hunt for nanoscale features the common analogy is looking for a marble on the surface of the earth...
