I was wondering if any of you have thoughts on keeping very large sarcophyton colonies in a mixed reef. I'm trying to maximize SPS growth and everything definitely grows, but some frags better than others. I have two very large toadstool leathers in the 170, one standard toadstool which is probably 12" across and another Tyree neon green toadstool which is 10" across.
I run carbon in a Phosban reactor... Do you think that the toadstools retard SPS growth in anyway? They take up a lot of space and I have debated about selling them off... if they did in fact slow down coral growth that'd be another black mark on them.
(They are pretty though...)
