Trachys anyone?

Is that how they normally are in the wild? Just strewn across the sand bed like that? Or was that some sort of grow out area? That file fish seemed to take a liking to them though.

I watched Mr. Saltwater Tanks recent webcast about where corals actually live on reefs. I believe he mentioned that trachy and Scoly generally grow in very murky lagoons. This looks like it could be a staging area for a coral collector
 
makes sense, especially considering the "unhealth" looking nature of some of them, could just have been recently moved and the fleshy lobes retracted.
