Used Red Sea Reefer 350 G1 question

Thank you in advance for any insight.
I found a used Red Sea Reefer 350 G1. Anyone have any experience with these setups? I read a few reviews where the seams have failed and was wondering how wide spread this is if at all. The foot print is perfect for the area I have available.
Thanks
Richard

I have seen a tank full of water move with great pace to the floor...it’s heart stopping
Used...no warranty
Hope your insurance is paid up

I have talked to aquatic collection at length -
According to them -it comes down to the way it is stored and transported -which can increase the risk if not properly done -either one.

Either way -these days I would be much less inclined to buy any used tank over 6 months old-and even then..

I would not even buy a new red sea after seeing clients and friends/club members deal with leaks.

@L/B Block in my personal opinion I don't think this is true. Many of the leaks I've cleaned up were first owners with the tank professionally installed. The latest had a pinhole leak right through the middle of the silicone (only way I can imagine this happening is an air bubble inside the seam which eventually the thinner silicone gave way due to the pressure inside the tank (tank has been running for 5 years). Which lines up with my initial hypothesis of poor manufacturing *originally deducted by how cleanly most leaks seperate the silicone from the glass. A proper silicone bond to glass should be stronger than the strength of the silicone itself so it should never fail by peeling away from the glass cleanly unless the surface prep for the bond was poorly done (i.e. not cleaned properly before bonding or poor quality silicone)

I'll add my experience. To be clear, I'm not advocating for Red Sea, just sharing my experience. I have a G1 Red Sea 250. I've had it for 5 years (and moved it once 2 years ago). No leaks.

Rimless tanks scare me. My next tank will be euro braced for peace of mind.

I may take you up on that
Yes @popper knows his stuff when it comes to diy.

@MikiCab I already mentioned it to you in dm. I wouldn't want a free redsea reefer let alone one being offered for $1200. If this was in the back yard or outside storage shed maybe. I would never consider a redsea inside my house or apartment. To much of a risk factor and bad track record. If you hear about a tank failure at least 8 out of 10 times it's likely to be a redsea. From my personal observations since I been reefing anyway.

I run a Reefer 500 and previously had a Reefer 170. No problems with either. I also like the Red Sea other equipment (I have their ATO and Gyre).

My next tank would probably be different, but primarily because I'd go eurobrace since I end up running a cover anyway and might not need to if I eurobrace.

A vast majority of red sea aquariums have no issues. Some do. Some other aquariums do too. How systemic it is is hard to say, and probably not as bad as this forum's making it out to be.

However, since Red Sea does that that concern, that's a possible lever to use in trying to negotiate if you want it. "Soo, I've heard X/Y/Z and am not sure. Do you have price flexibility?"
