When did the price of Radiums go down?

That's what Sanjay has said as well and why he's doing his long term test right now :)
 
My understanding from reading some threads in RC, the 6 months life span is true for 400 watts bulb, because the bulb is not actually rate for 400 watts, but slightly below than that (I do not remember the number). Therefore, you overdriven the bulb. The 250 watts bulb has the actual specs as is, so it should last the same as other bulb out there 9-12 months.
I am recently switch to 250 watts Radium and we will see how long it will last before I need to switch bulbs. Looking forward for Sanjay's long term test result though.
 
IIRC it's the HQI (430w) that is the problem with the 400w version.

HQI are what we think of HQI is truly what as known as Son Agro in the horticultural industry.

not overdriving em.. using icecap electrnic 250w ballasts.. i noticed some crazy problematic algae growth at 9 months..

Old bulbs cause problematic algae?
 
If you have old bulbs I've seen it happen a lot with customers tank. All kinds of outbreaks! I get the Radiums really cheap I'll post the price tomorrow.

Haha about Gen he's not that slow building tanks. I it doesn't help when I steel him on weekends and do some canyon carving on our bikes. If you wanted a tank quote just or kicks I can get one from him, he usually gives me a nice deal since we are like long lost brothers! Hehe
