Worms living on my algae scraper..

Have any of you seen this before? I had some algae growing on my nano flipper so I pulled it out and cleaned it off. When I put it back in my tank all of these worms started coming out of it. Weird.

i totally saw some worms like these swimming around in my water column a few nights ago. One of them swam to the top and started shooting out stuff as it disintegrated(super cool to watch, almost like those 4th of july sparklers)

I usually just keep it in the tank. I think I'm going to keep it out from now on.

yeah as convenient as it is to leave it in the tank, I always feel better removing any magnet just so stuff doesn't grow on it, or in the case of the flipper, so the blade won't rust (yeah even stainless steel can rust given the right conditions)
