Yellow clown goby - free pickup in San Jose

Although morally questionable, it does seem to be a pragmatic way to get them out compared to dropping 4-5 beer into the tank…but maybe I misunderstood.
I think he meant sit next to the tank beer in hand lol

I imagine the bacterial bloom from a beer would be quite harmful

Btw if it doesn’t work you can (even more morally questionable) starve them for a day so they are more likely to come to your hand

Cleaner shrimps aren’t that fast. Come at them from behind so they can’t dash away

We are getting down a very dark rabbithole here....will try vodka then, just checking my nutrients on the nano tank...

Alcohol is a common carbon dosing method. Overdoing it may spike your bacteria, plummet oxygen, and drop nutrients like a stone.

Doing it to the level that will actually cause behavior changes in livestock doesn’t seem like a great idea to me

That’s why i suggest against that. Try a net before anything else. Maybe us a hose and siphon

Oh man, that's a small fish to try and get in a tank full of his favorite snack. Good on you for trying and caring, but that seems like it's going to be a nightmare to catch.

I wonder if a shop vac would work. Ideally with some foam in the end so he doesn't get smashed against the inside.
I meant this as mostly a joke, but I think it'd actually be doable with a fish like this. Take a shopvac. Put a piece of foam a couple inches down the pipe. Put tube in tank. Turn on, sucked in, cover, turn off.

Fish would be against the foam.

Speed could be adjusted by partially plugging the exhaust air vent.

Maybe a bad idea, but maybe not as bad an idea as it's first seem.

On behalf of @Alexander1312 ….

Woooosh!!

He’s just joking, Alex is the last person to pour beer in his tank..

Unless Claude starts doing it! :p ;)

This guy is stubbornly not coming out.

Both sides of my tank have many hidey holes he can go into, so all the rock would have to come out if I were to try and do it that way

I just tried to siphon him out, lights off, but he realized and ran away somehow. I don't know what to do. I can't tear apart my tank :(

Really lost for options right now

Post #4 but minus 2 beers since you only got a 20g. The egg crate method works well since u can cut it exactly to the width of ur tank sweeping and cornering the fish. There has to be a frozen item that he will go crazy for then the fish trap should work with that inside !! What frozen or live food have you tried?

They can fit through egg crate.

i have tried pellet and mysis. No interest. I’m shocked he’s finding food at all

Not after you zip tie these panels to the egg crate or theres the 1/8 clear netting on amazon you can fashion with two pieces of bamboo to sweep the tank or custom net..Fish have a hard time seeing that clear netting why they work so well large scale

You can try starving him by target feeding your other fish and make sure there are no scraps for him. He should hopefully get food motivated after a few days.

it’s been multiple days, many hours, and finally, finally, I caught him

Only slight rearrangement. Ended up chasing him to the side of the tank he’s never been on, cornered and he made the bad decision to go against the glass

Pending to @Raj Gill

Before and after of one of my acros:

You can see polyps starting to peek back out, just an hour after the fact

another one, the first angle you can see the polyps (don’t have another pic)
