Do you think it make sense to get a minnow and use each doser head to dose AFR into each tank or get an X2 and two independent dosing heads and running it off that? You might need extension cables if it's too far: https://forum.coralvuehydros.com/threads/probe-port-extension-cable-available.1926/
Some of the dosers are WiFi controlled but again a little risky if the signal goes out mid addition.
Ignore the rats nest electrical hazard in the middle lol but I’m planning to build a cabinet there for the hydros. I’m planning to get a Maven eventually and I saw it has two intake tubes for testing two tanks so I wanted to make sure the tanks were close enough. I don’t think I’ll need an extension cable. Not sure how long the stock cords are yet. But I’ll pick some up if I end up needing when I setupYou might need extension cables if it's too far: https://forum.coralvuehydros.com/threads/probe-port-extension-cable-available.1926/

Damn that's it right there. I like the side by side set up.Ignore the rats nest electrical hazard in the middle lol but I’m planning to build a cabinet there for the hydros. You can also use the 2ml/min AC dosing pump and connect it to your XP8 as another option.Do you think it make sense to get a minnow and use each doser head to dose AFR into each tank or get an X2 and two independent dosing heads and running it off that?
I’m trying to avoid getting a second XP8 at least for the moment and I think I’m going to be using up all 8 outlets as isYou can also use the 2ml/min AC dosing pump and connect it to your XP8 as another option.
Yeah I think it’d make the most sense. It’ll be about $50 cheaper than the X2+2 dosers and I’ll end up with 4 extra sense ports. Maybe I can plug in a leak detector for each tank or something with the extra portsThe minnow doesn’t consume a drive port, and it also adds extra sense ports!
You can configure different schedules for each dose head, so your plan would work just fine. I think a minnow is the simplest way to go and you could convert it to 2 part later if you wanted.
Agreed, I don't trust themI would not use the WiFi power strips.
The problem is getting the WiFi power strip to blink blue fast. It either blinks red or stays solid red and blue. I was able to get one of them added so I know it’s not my network. Trying to factory rest the WiFi power strip doesn’t work either.![]()

Have you tried steps in section "To RE-PAIR your WiFi strip" in the url above?
I would not use the WiFi power strips.
Yeah I’ve read they are unreliable and lose connection often. I might have to put this Hydros into storage until I buy a XP8Agreed, I don't trust them
I plugged the X4 and WiFi power strips right next to my Xfinity router. Still same issue.Water can block the Wi-Fi signal, so try to see if you can have them with a direct line without a body of water in the direction of your router or access point.
Otherwise the CoralVue people generally respond quickly through their support portal.
I kinda was thinking this too when I saw Tu’s post but I went back through the thread and a couple of people did say to get the WiFi strips to save money but other people said they didn’t like them and not to trust anything critical on themDid we not recommend these WIfi strips over the XP8 a few days ago? I bought two of them and getting them tomorrow. ‘Great’ to hear they are not recommended…..
I have run with 3 of them since last November and have not faced any issue except once in awhile one of them lost wifi connection; however, everything plug to them still running correctly/accordingly without issue.I kinda was thinking this too when I saw Tu’s post but I went back through the thread and a couple of people did say to get the WiFi strips to save money but other people said they didn’t like them and not to trust anything critical on them
