im looking to add a cheap addition to my 40 breeder to add volume, hold rocks and frags. ive used 27 gallon and 12 gallon totes in the past and even have on right now holding some freshwater plants and fish. my plan is to plumb a 27 gallon tub into my 40 and just run a pump into it from my sump...

I think ur best bet is as big as possible without being too expensive to maintain. going from small tanks to a normal size tank has been light and day with stability and coral growth.
