    Willie’s Last Aquarium Build

I thought u were adding a skylight based on the hole in the last picture. Have you considered solar tubes for free natural sunlight? Or maybe not as effective depending on what part of SF you're in.

The optics of this joke don't look great, but I see what u were going for.

Monthly cost to keep your tank running

My justification for buying everything DC, it'll eventually save money. Return pumps, skimmer, carx, powerheads. Plus the silence is amazing. Loudest noise are my Kessil fans. As for monthly cost. I know, but I don't want to know :)

External Pump/s (OM 4 and 8 way possibly)

This makes me want to build an old school frag tank with exposed equipment. OM on a closed loop, metal halides in big lumenark reflectors, external downdraft skimmer.

What do you use to clean your sumps (and pipes)?

Bleeder valve is the term I'm looking for. 1-1/4" attachment: https://www.thevacuumfactory.com/product/curved-wand-vacuum-hose-end-with-bleeder-valve-and-metal-stub-tube/ 2-1/2" attachment: https://www.amazon.com/WORKSHOP-Wet-Dry-Accessories-WS25005A/dp/B019C23J6I/ref=asc_df_B019C23J6I

What do you use to clean your sumps (and pipes)?

@SupraSaltyReefer's pro tip. Get a 7 gallon bucket for the bucket head so you'll be emptying it less often. I have this kit when I'm sucking out mulm from the sump. The flexible hose and rigid tip lets me get in tight places. It will get clogged on chunky bits like coraline and algae globs...

    What snail is this?

@tribbitt i have a ton of these chitons that come out at night. I can throw some in when Raj picks up your torch.

    FREE '24 SPS Growout Contest

~275 day progress. Things are starting to pick up. I see more axial coralites.

    Your favorite tongs/tweezers

I must be clumsy haha. I have those tunze tongs too but I end up knocking corals and breaking things if I try to use them for maintenance work.

    Your favorite tongs/tweezers

What are you favorite tongs/tweezers/grabber for picking up things, moving, and other maintenance? I'm talking >20" to be able to reach the bottom of the tank. My favorite tongs just broke after a couple years and are no longer available. I loved how nimble these were for delicate work with...

Neptune Apex and UV sterilizer programming…

Create a virtual outlet to determine if the return pump is drawing X amount of watts. I'd check how many watts the pump draws at speed 1 and set that as the condition. I'm putting 5 here as an assumption. Rturn_Watts Set OFF If Output Varios Watts < 5 Then ON Defer 0:30 Then ON Then for your...

Are u planning on adding a second rail to spread them out? I liked the array setup you had on the last tank

    The Mangrove Seahorse Hitching Post

Caught the seahorse couple engaging in courting behavior. About every other month they'll do this dance and be really clingy to each other. Last week in the morning, I noticed two tiny squiggly things swimming at the surface which turned out to be baby seahorses! Unfortunately by the time I ran...

    Pressurized kalk reactor

I've seen someone with their dosing containers on a shelf mounted high on a bathroom wall on the other side of their tank. One of those slim 5 gallon ATO containers wouldn't be too much of eyesore. Or get wall mounted cabinets to hide it in :)

    DBTC: ATL Purple Rain Acropora

Glad to see this coral still going! I nearly lost all of mine a while back, but some residual encrusting has branches sprouting up again.

    Dbtc thoughts, comments and issues

Having conditions can be completely valid. If it's a higher end coral and the person's purpose for putting it on DBTC is to bank it, they shouldn't feel any pressure to just give it first come first served. At the same time, a requester should not feel entitled. Especially if they don't have...

    Dbtc thoughts, comments and issues

What we need is a bay area Coral Courier™ :p On a recurring basis, this vehicle, equipped with temperature controlled storage for corals, to make runs with stops in south, easy, north bay, peninsula, and SF. Logistics seems to be the biggest bottleneck for not just dbtc, but buying and selling...

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Originally intended the red line to be a dedicated refill line connected to my rodi. Since I'll only refill one a month, I'll probably just move connections and refill with the blue line. Red will be a backup or I'll expand it to be a fresh air intake for my skimmer. I'm going to dose 24/7...

    LF fluco Fluconazole

I should have some, can check when I get home. I'll be in south SJ tomorrow if you want to pick up there.

    Pressurized kalk reactor

Bit the bullet and drilled a hole through my house directly on the other side of the tank. 55 gallon drum for saturated kalk which will last me about 1.5 months. I was testing a different method before automating it but it wasn't giving me the results I liked. Filled a 5 gallon bucket with 2...
