Are you gonna do continuous water exchange with your 300G? I recently connected a 10gal fiji ext to my main tank, and the 10gal barely had any ugly stage at all (main tank sump and skimmer took care of filtering the 10gal).

Bacteria out-competing film algae for phosphate? Slightly lower nutrient levels overall? Hard to say really.

@JVU Re. your glass cleaning question - I've noticed way less film algae since I started carbon dosing! Causes of that could be a lot of things though.

I put it in shortly after the end of the cycle. I'm just not convinced it really accelerated anything - I feel like normal (non "spore") coralline will manifest and grow either way around 3 months, provided you introduce it on a coral frag or something.

The carbon is also ancient (>3 years) - may be that it absorbed something toxic during storage, and is releasing it in small quantities. Will test with a new batch of carbon.

Yep! I'm just gonna run it when I have a good reason to - I began running it because I was dosing prazipro.

Seems like the stylo polyp retraction was due to running carbon! I turned off carbon overnight accidentally, and the stylo re-extended it's polyps. I turned the carbon back on, and the stylo retracted. Turned it off for 2 days now, and the stylo is looking much better. I kind of doubt that this...

I can scrape some off my tank if you ever come to the Berkeley area. I agree - the coralline in a bottle did nothing for me. Picking up a snail with a coralline coated shell works too - it'll track that stuff all over the tank for you.

I've seen mine maintain branching form across 2 tanks and 3 different lighting setups. Seems like a slower grower than the "matted" GSP I have also.

You could put a piece of foam around the power head intake (the way people make their power heads anemone proof). IME this reduces flow ~30% or so Or, get a 3D printed anemone guard for a cleaner look - will also reduce flow

Normally 78. I notice faster front panel algae growth at 80, which is kinda interesting.

On the upside, wrasse seems to have fully recovered after 2 rounds of prazi (~90% recovery). Crazy how badly the flukes seem to have affected it.

Stylo has been closed up for a couple of days - no tissue loss, but confusing... all other SPS doing well. Had a small Alk swing (9-10.5 over 2 weeks) and large phosphate swing (0.01-0.2). Likely that the PO4 swing did this?

What's that bright yellow thing? Chalice?
